Alsea River for some early winter steelhead. That's if they can crawl over rocks with the river at this level.

I'm fairly new here and haven't been around lately, but when I saw Tom on the tube this morning I thought, "Hey, I know that guy.[/img]t aired at 5:30am. A nice way to start a Monday, instead of the lameass local news. However, I was concerned about the conspicuous absence of the use of the words, "s...

There are actually trout streams in the higher elevations. They have a short season though. Wish I could help more with that. There's peakcock bass, but they're in private lakes. If I were going I'd pack an 8wt. and flies like Clousers, Deceivers, Crazy Charlies, and get out to the beach early. Look...

Hi Ed,Yeah, yeah Deschutes River, wow, look at that, "blue ribbon" and all. You can just "smell" the trout. (That hill looks a little obese, 'cause of the stitch thing I guess). The pic that's really exceptional is the water strider over the fish spots...PERIOD (as rob would say).To be redundant, GRE...

Nemo, the weather has been very stable the past week and the rivers have been dropping into shape. The winters are starting to move, but I think (no expert here) the real migration is later (Feb.-Mar.). However, I caught a bright, fresh, wild fish on the Alsea, on Thanksgiving day, so who knows?I'd ...

I make my own furled leaders out of tying thread for dries, and mono (Maxima) for nymphs and steelhead setups. 15 minutes makes a leader that will last a few seasons instead of a few weeks, and they turn over and float down the lightest of dry flies or the clunkiest of wet flies...KERSPLASH!Bill

Bottom line, the guy likes alot of nerdy, internet attention with almost zero originality to gain such, and it seems that he's struck gold with this forum.Pure winter entertainment. Keep it up. My local streams are either blown out or closed. (The ones he got skunked on during his brief visit here)....
