I also use lightroom, is capture pro a lot better? For organization, no. For RAW conversion, yes and no. For tethered shooting, yes. The most recent iteration of Capture Pro has a similar organizational structure to Lightroom, but its more fidgety to use and you don't get Smart Previews which sucks...

I use external drives and I store based on date and a short description. Inside Finder, or whatever Windows equivalent, I can then search keywords or a date and quickly find the files I need. But I shoot on a project basis, so I generally know the date the photo I'm looking for was created. FileMgm...

Not a pro or even a semi-pro but I do something similar. As in I have a seperate drive for my photos, I store all my RAW files there. I have folders with the year then subfolders for the specific event. I pretty much just trash my jpegs after I upload them.

The 70-200/2.8 is tough to beat, but it's a big lens. I'd make sure you want to carry something like that around before I bought it. The 70-300vr is a surprisingly good lens. I'd say out to 200mm at 5.6-8 it's about as good as the older 70-200/2.8. Obviously you lose a few stops and it's not great ...
