Not a Pappy's fan or a fan of most wheated varieties (Maker's, etc.) Always preferred the other end of the spectrum with the more rye forward varieties. Pappy's is a very well made whiskey but the blind hype typical of our countrymen is rather pathetic - most couldn't pick it out of a line of straight ryes...

Tonight was Jefferson's 10 year straight rye, 25 year straight rye, 25 year bourbon & then some Woodford just cuz.


Pappy is complex as they come, though not quite my cup of tea, if you will. Harsh...compared to those cheap young corn liquors. Didn't stop of us from crushing the bottle in a sitting. The character is heavy barrel.. I suppose... really what one should expect from a perfect bourbon. A couple pours is enough to satiate whatever that is inside you that convinces you it's a good idea to drink the shit in the first place.
