I thought you said this report was going to be shitty? Looks like a damn fine time to me, very pretty brookies.

Great tune, by the way. The Steel Wheels album is good stuff.

Kids, brookies, and doughnuts=a great day. I have to agree with 4-eyed--there was nothing shitty contained therein. :cool

A Headwater Christening.

A new Brookie rod for the 2017 season and hopefully many more.

For our first time out together I had a steam in mind that ran down out the mountains in a State Forest. A stream I’ve driven over and hiked along, but never fished.

It seemed fitting, a stream I’ve never fished with a rod I’ve never fished. A good place for a christening.

I drove out of town earlish on a raining morning and caught the green light at the only stop light in town, which happens to be at a covered bridge. You could say I live in small town. I took it at as a sign of good things to come.

The lower stretches of the stream were definitely not a secret. A fisherman’s trail and worm container lids. Not promising. I continued up stream in hopes of getting above the point where a fisherman who spends money on worms did not want to waste it on 6 inch fish.

Yes, this is much better. This will do.

The first fish! Not a monster but still worth the hike in.

This spring is looking sweet with a good bit water in the Brookie streams.

McH, jah praise! Thank you for ressurecting this thread. Sal Font is a revered N American species for me. That's some pretty looking water. One thing that definitley holds true: native species are found in beautiful places and are just as beautiful as their surroundings.
