i got real bored this evening and realized that i had never caught (on fly) a freshwater fish that would fit in my hand. i grabbed my 4 lb. (no clue/don't care how many Xs that is) 4wt. rig and walked down to my private water to see what all this palm-sized shit was about.
i'm not sure, but i don't think i've ever caught a fish smaller than my reel.
three casts later:
had enough of that shit so i grabbed my rake and spent about an hour
destroying habitat cleaning hydrilla and stringy grass shit out of the prime areas. next week i'm taking the weed eater to the shit that's grown up around the bank.
while i was cleaning that stuff out, i noticed tons of minnows, little perch, and 3-4 inch long tadpoles. with that much food in there all over the place and deep water out in the middle there has to be some bigger fish in there.
as the sun set a ~2 foot water snaked headed across the lake. i thought for sure something would hit his ass but he made it. (i was too lazy to take a picture and i didn't want to miss it if something grabbed him.)
maybe i'll go try again next week...?
now i'm drinking cheap beer and tying tarpon leaders:

Yo MB! Nice Tarpon time gear! You really need to be fishing for Brown Trouts though. Ask Heero, he'll tell you the same thing. They can actually be selective at times. You know- like dem Catfish.

If you end up with a boring miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest, or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.

I'd rather get a hand job with 60 grit than drink bud lite (or any lite).
Forget about tarpon, they're going to turn around when they hit the spill.

Cool reportage. I would have never guessed that you owned a 4wt. Lets see more pics of the pond!

I know a guy that's caught some 3lb bass out of that pond.
It was no big deal.
Buy better hooks and bourbon.
