Today was just ..... WOW. We woke up to good conditions, the wind was moderate out of the north, the tide was low.
As we ran out we could see just how low the water was....
Then we rounded a curve and spotted our first bull of the day
Unfortunately he was dead on the bank. We made a pretty good run to the area we wanted to fish and started poling. We quickly started seeing many fish, and put a few slot sized fish in the boat before Devin boated our first bull of the day. It was the start of the kind of day dreams are made of.
Capt. Devin and I landed 23 redfish today, including 9 bulls. We could have landed many more but we finally decided not to cast at anything that looked smaller than 20 pounds. The combined weight of the 9 bulls was 211 pounds, they ranged from 18 to 29 pounds. Devin also caught an 18 pound black drum and a remora stuck to one of his redfish. Each picture below is a different fish
This fish, the big one of the day at 29 pounds was almost another spotless wonder. No spot on one side and only a tiny pencil eraser sized spot on the other
Today it got to the point that we were fighting over the push pole because poling the boat was less work than fighting these big bastards. It was a truly epic day catching monsters in the marsh.
