dope. if i lost 23# you could carry me up to the lake next time. we'd eat nothing. i'd lose 6 more #s for the hike back, which would feel like heaven downhill to a beast like you. i'd at least bring a eight.

real fine.

you know this, but i carry that much (extra) weight with me on a daily basis.

that kind of scenery and those kinds of fish make me suffer.

By the Bye, I've seen Avg Joe hump in a half gallon jug of Christian Bros, a pint of bourbon,
and six beers. Above 10,000 feet. oh, and the foldy chair.

And he humped the empties out. :smile

I would love to do a trip like this (because I live in a place where 12 feet above sea level is considered "high and dry" and I have no clue that I wouldn't make the first mile of the hike in because I'm fat and would be gasping for air.....)

Someday you'll show up at a trail head, and meet three guys twenty years younger than you. They'll all be smoking, so you'll have hope of not being ground into the earth. The hope will be ground down with the rest of you. You'll wish you had the rock instead of the 20 years. And the cheese.

The beers will still be good, if we'd had any.

I've read this latest installment several times now.

Probably more.

I can both identify with and appreciate the pain you went through packing in those luxuries.

I also know what it feels like - tastes like - to pop one of those tops after it's been resting in a cold stream for a couple of hours, and how that first sip can cause you to close your eyes and think, "It was worth it."

But the rock.

The rock is the unexpected icing.

Every time I come to the end of your TR and see that photo, I bust out laughing.

I love your friends too.
