Does this count? It was fresh, and some of those feathers will work just fine instead of hen hackle.

I initially got them as keets to get their skins when full grown, but I just can't bring myself to kill them. Lesson learned. Kill wild birds or buy skins from a farm. Otherwise they end up as your pseudo-children.

I went pheasant hunting for the first time in SD. I don't know what was more shocking - the number of wild birds or how old the average pheasant hunter is.

Those are beautiful. Don't think I would be able to harvest them either. But when they do kick the bucket, if you need to get rid of some feathers....
