An SE AK Summer (Page 13)

Post by The Po Thead » Sun Jun 29, 2014 1:18 am

[report]Back in March, I received an opportunity to work with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game on the largest salmon-producing watershed in Southeast Alaska. For the last 20 years, ADF&G has been conducting mark-recapture studies on Chinook and Coho salmon to estimate the population, and the first portion of this study focuses on gathering juveniles to mark with coded wire tags. From early April until the beginning of June, we captured smolts using minnow traps and beach seines. It was truly an incredible experience to explore a place I had heard so much about, but had never been to before.

Excuse me while I go thru that again. Don't want to miss a thing. Thanks.
