A Fisherman's Betrayal

There once was a man from the 'Belt
A penchant for weed he was dealt.
He moved out west, fished with the best, But shame was all he felt.

Before his escape, he dreamt of the Cape.
So he waited till night to look for a break.
Knowing there had to be gold to take.

So the Cape was no good, but he stole what he could.
Clyde he could not take, as his licenses are all fakes,
and now AK's is all that he makes.

Used to be a pizza place in St. Louis, in the basement of the Melrose Apartment Building, called Rossino's. On the corner of West Pine and Sarah..

It'd been operating since the Christ was a corporal ... I got there in the mid 70's... now it's closed. But, not before I got to take Lisa there for her first dinner out with my family. They served their pizza in rectangular baking pans, and the pieces were cut at right angels... I think it was a St. Louis thing.

Dinner was usually this; a Caesar salad (heavy on the anchovies), fried raviolis and cheesy garlic bread with a red sauce for dipping, and then a killer pizza. If I was with the guys, we drank Bud... with dates we drank bottomless carafes of the house chianti. We always had spumoni ice cream for dessert.

Jeeze... those were good times.

Like hanging out here with you fucks... What the fuck happened to this place?

Hahaha... Lisa and I still fry them in olive oil. How the hell would you get them out of a toaster, anyway??

True about the Bud thing... though in those days, it was plenty hard to find "The Champagne of Belleville" in St. Louis. I think it was a union, or teamster thing.

Agreed that they were fried; but most places (and Schnuck's) called them "toasted"
and yeah, Stag was normally on tap out in the sticks when you'd pull into a tavern for lunch on a huntin/fishin trip...
