Third Stop-No JC Hot Sauce TR

Post by FormerlyChaseChrome » Sun Apr 09, 2017 8:27 pm

[report]

...It is said, you can never return...it would be some version of panta rhei,
But it doesn't quite account for what it is that keeps remembrance vital...the grass sometimes is greener.
Elsewhere...
The three stages of life:
1. Birth.
2. What the fuck is this.
3. Death.
I left the island in '74, a year during which threatening storm clouds gathered on the horizon...but then, they had been accumulating for 100 years or so.
For years now those "founders" have not been well remembered.
Desperate attempts to return always seemed to fail and served only to feed a psychic life of melancholia.

Our Hitchmas plans failed, as much due to my lack of "corporate-style" organizational skills...so fucking sue me.
And yet, we somehow ended up booking on that very island I spent my youth...
I finally allowed myself the luxury to recall the distant, and delightful scents—that are only characteristic of the tropics—and interrupt the everydayness of it all.

Hastily tied some stuff, not having fished the salt in years I deferred to the sage advice here...tip of the hat to Mad_Mike for his SBS's

There is a name for this,
they call it the "Welcome Mat."
Image

We settled in, made some quick calls to old friends, forged plans to escape a few days and leave the rest of the party to commiserate in exile...
Image
Suffer the children...
Image

Had some weather the first day but that quickly moved through...
Image

Checked this place out...nope
Image

Some clues here...no payout
Image

So went for a walk the following morning.
Image

Image

Sasquatch sighted.
Image

Ended up missing a few but got the rust off the D-haul...

Image

Skiff life...
Image

Walked back and met with a friend from long ago who now works at the resort...lovely lady

The scene of the BIG twin-permit-that-ate-and-said-fuck-you Fridaycc...
Undressed the 8wt.
You can make out the dark shadow that was the ray with his followers.

So we waited on the tides and picked up a few small ones...
Lost many in areas carpeted with fish...a few to the disastrous "trout-set."
Or...casting errors due in part to my pending cataract surgery...a dry fly for me is a 2/0 with a smoke flair.

Buffs are ghey...
Image

I was somewhat reassured that I didn't suck a badly as Michael Keaton who, he said, spooked every bonefish within a 10-mile radius and nailed him in the back of the head more than once...Batman sucks morer

We toasted our failures and laughed.
Image

And proceeded to collect our lunch...
Image

Image

Image

Prep...

Image

Aunt Eva took care of us and cooked up our catch...
Image

Image

The remains of the day offered up no more chances at permit, so we toughed it out...
Picking up the odd fish here and there.
Image

We slid over a deeper section at the bottom of which was a good sized blue hole, we drifted over schooling bones that made for the deeper section and spent a good amount of time picking out decent sized fish mid-depth...
Some good eights and one double-digit that fell victim to one of the numerous sharks gathered there...hot times

Image

Image

Well fuck the North hey...

Made plans for a further incursion...
And some beach combing.
Image

Image

Image

Image
These guys made out for the open before low tide...
Image
Home...
Image

Some asides...
Romain...the lettuce man
Image

Image
The drive in...
Image

Image

We were stoned for the bones...
Image

Image

Lizzy sent me home with some of her mother's alchemical brew...

Thanks for coming along...

That was just fine.
frustrated. After a few "what the fucks?" "i suck"s and a break on shore I convinced her to get back to casting. I clearly remember this question/statement "so you actually think this is fun. These fish are fucked"

That was fantastic.

No photos of Mitch? He always implies that the two of you grew up together, so I'm surprised he didn't join you.

Regardless, I always enjoy your photos and prose, and this TR was exceptional.

It was proper snowy and windy and cold and shitty here today, so, you know.

Fuck you very much for that.

Solid reportage.
