I know practically nothing about bamboo, and it may wind up being a $60 tomato stake.

But it works.

Obie, Granger made some very good rods, the one you have could be very good, depending on how it has been treated, if you're enjoying it, that's what matters. It certainly isn't a tomato stake. What length is it?
Granger was a good production company, made some very good rods.

7'6". The folks over at the bamboo forum ID'ed it as a 7630 and when they said how much it was worth, I puked in my mouth a little. Plan is to have it restored and give it a work out on native cutts when I tool around Y-omen this summer :cool

Aren't those things worth more it they're left un-restored?

I figured it'd be like furniture and that refinishing it reduces the value, but honestly- this is the first one I've ever picked up. I don't know enough about bamboo rods to know what affects their value. First stop is to a guy I trust, then take it from there...

Kudos for the really nice photo essay in the most recent Northwest Fly Fishing, especially the shot of Yard nymphing. Some righteous button pushing right there. Good job my friend.
