DB's in our local fisheries management want to open the trib where this wild fish likely came from. We fought to close it in the previous century but it's now determined to have plenty of spawners now so go ahead and whack your 3/day. Supported by out local WNY TU as well.

Keeping faith with NY's overall fisheries management plan- always strive for mediocre!

Fuck everysingleone of those people who put that proposal through. I'll get to tell several right to their faces but for the rest a blanket DIAF.

"Striving for mediocre" is too generous. I was there for that fight too, Nick.

I remember talking to one of DEC's paper pushers about fin clipping every hatchery smolt, then instituting mandatory release of non-clipped fish caught on Big Kitty Creek. His reply that it would be "stupid" because "everyone would just cut the adipose of any fish they wanted to keep." I knew right then that the stream-born rainheads' days were numbered. When the so-called fisheries managers assume every angler is out for himself and is willing to break any law to fill a stringer we're fucked.

Stay angry, man.

Odd fish landing technique there...

Don't feel bad, Oregon and Washington are actively trying to open and expand commercial gillnetting on the Columbia. The same Columbia that has seen less than 50% of the 10 year average the last couple seasons and has had many sport fishing closures due to low numbers. Icing on the cake is we've been paying $8.75 for a tag and those funds were to compensate the supposedly out of work commercial gill netters. You just can't make this shit up.

A little scary kegman cheer from a recent outing

I don't blame the fisherman, properly regulated commercial fishing is a perfectly good use of a renewable resource. Alaska sockeye is a great example. The true robbery of the public's resources is being committed by energy and ag interests, enabled by fish and game departments that have basically become arms of the power administration and refuse to change the status quo. The fisherman are just the most visible scapegoat. If you want to blame somebody, look at the groups whose lives would be improved if salmon no longer existed - it wouldn't be the fisherman. It would be bonneville power and idaho, washington, and oregon farmers who owe their livelihoods to taxpayers, use our resources, and then sell them back to us at a profit.

Oof, they are not much to look to for support these days. Cant wait till they open the headwaters, I'm sure it will be regulated just as well. Dicks.

Picking is mandatory to fish landing right now!

While I'm at it we are 4/6 on wild vs hatchery in this stretch over several days. Our fishery would totally suck without the wild fish even just on a numbers basis. Free fucking fish for everyone, just let them alone in the tribs.

The best cup of coffee I have had in a long time...Image
Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need-a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing.
