Finally carved out some time to get away from this life of busy. Three days, two nights, myself and three other local cats……and a remote stretch of river.
Edit: Flysmallie was on this trip and took some excellent photos .... maybe he'll add some in ....
We had a trip somewhat planned for another river, but recent floods had devastated that watershed — so we changed the venue to a waterway less impacted. Aside from a little light rain the first few hours of the trip, weather was stellar. Water was perfect.
The smalls started out on the petite end of the scale. For a while every fish was a little bigger than the one before.

We were down a man — the dude that initiated the trip had to bail at the last minute as his grandmother passed. We toasted granny into the next world with margaritas on the first evening.
The second night around the fire we didn't even need to talk much. We mostly sat there enjoying our drinks, listening to the river, the cricket frogs, the whipoorwills, the owls....gazed at the new moon view of the Milky Way and marveled at the firefly show.
Need to make this happen more often…cheers.
