I wish I knew Pete in the personal way that you speak of Ron. The only side of Pete I ever saw was the online one. Hell, his antics over on the local board are what gave me my handle here (for those that don't know). Nevertheless, I have heard from many others that said the same thing as you regarding him in person. I guess many of us are the same way. I truly wish I could have met him in person. I'll pour a sip for sure.

He would have been 14 this weekend. It's been four months, and I haven't done anything since.

Rest in peace, big man.

This one's for Pete.

I have a had a lot going on in my life lately and with the heat index of 103 deg seppo, I needed a cool shady creek to keep my mind and body from melting.

This creek was one of Pete's favorites. He wrote about it quite a few times as a magazine article writer, but got upset whenever someone hotspotted it on the local board. I chuckled with the irony but truthfully, he was right. In the land of dark muddy bayous, a creek with "clear" water and sandy bottom is a rarity.

You know it's a good spot when you can find both Jesus and Spiderman have been there previously.

Per Pete's many suggestions, poppers were the main fly of the day.

I came for the spotted bass, but unfortunately they did not participate. Maybe I'm fishing the wrong areas. Maybe I can't fish for shit. Maybe I smell. Or maybe it was just that I got high holed by one of the locals.

However, I did find various other sunfishes which were willing to participate.

I may not have found the target fish I was looking for, but I walked away with sand in my shoes and a refreshed mind.

Thanks Pete. I'll catch one of those spots one day.

We should all be so blessed as to have as fine a eulogy. Sip poured.
