I was surprised with the Oscars; fishing an 8 and didn't feel overgunned.
Peacocks were the "trophy" but Oscar Town provided steady pull.
DEET had the magic pattern, landed some bigger green fish. We'll be
locked and loaded for next time...

Headed east (and farther south)...

Thalweg is still gettin' dug out from Irma; shit got fukked proper in his neck of the woods.
So we didn't get to fish as much as we'd hoped. But hard to complain with 20 seppo weather

I got a couple of shots at some fish, but got no love.
Any time with Thalweg is good time.

had the good fortune to rendezvous with fatman in FL again. we enjoyed a special guest appearance by local surf guide and intrepid everglades explorer DEET.

sometimes it felt like we were fishing in a bathtub, other times in an aquarium.

Image

the 700 or so other oscars we caught all looked like the ones in fatman's pictures so no need to include more here. they fight hard for their size. so do the mayan cichlids:

we always felt welcome

first time seeing one of these, our best guess was some type of pleco

they weren't all exotic
