It is gorgeous country and the rivers are most captivating. I fished for most of a week there with Heero and caught the same number of fish that you caught. While I did not eat poutine I carefully watched how to get marinara sauce to splatter from the floor to the ceiling behind the stove and also learned the best way to make $100 worth of live lobster dry out and taste like burnt beer. Two lessons I will never forget. I must go back for the fishings however. Thanks for the reminder.

I’m just glad RFA was able to step in and add some content.

Thanks for the ride gents, this is next on my fishing to do list.

Sweet, fellas! The waters levels look great, were you seeing many fish in the tank pools, or no? Early season is the best time to go, for sure, even if there aren’t many fish in yet. Once summer rolls around you’ll just be casting over-and-over to the same stale fish stacked in a tank day after day.

You’re already planning your return, aren’t you?

Also, at roughly $6 CAN /lb, there is no way there was $100 in lobsters — no way, no how!

So, you're saying they would have caught less fish if they had waited until summer rolls around???

So this particular string of events sealed the deal for me, convincing me that I must make the long
drive back to do this again. Same "pool" where Surly had hooked his earlier fish, downstream in a
deep run at the tailout. From a cliff above the creek, we saw five fish lined up - a couple of "small"
salmon and three that I swear were forty inches or better. Surly found a narrow ledge next to
the cliff that allowed him to cast to the pod, while I "spotted" from above.

For the next hour, Surly worked the fish as I called out position
"Four feet longer. Shorten up a foot. Right there"
"One of the smaller fish dropped back and followed your fly"
"OK, I'm changing flies"

It was like watching a (non-boring) chess match as the salmon moved around in the pool.
It wasn't as easy as it sounds, as the tailout had a lot of changing currents, which meant
that each cast was not necessarily on the same line as the last.

At one point, Surly cast a Silver Rat down and across. The silver body of the fly was easy to
see as the line bellied out, and then the fly went ripping across the pool. The biggest salmon
of the bunch detached himself from the stream bottom and charged the fly, turning away just
inches from his nose breaking the surface. Surly was totally unaware of the fish's actions, but
I had a front row seat. It left me wondering how many fish had done the same to our flies during
the course of the week....

Local lore says that the building on top of the hill is an insane asylum;
the rooms facing the river estuary are reserved for crazed salmon fishermen
