A brief layover in Pastor Ben’s neighborhood brought hopes of finding a real Fall A drive through the south end of YNP brought back childhood memories of Christmases I never experienced A quick stop for lunch along the Firehole, this dude was the only thing actively feeding The river seemed like a good place to start. Bright clear day with the usual wind challenge
UFO clouds were seen, a few fish raised, not a single whitefish among them. The spring creek looked good But nothing stays the same. I don’t know if the heat had overbaked my brain, or I thought I was tougher than I am...but I left all of my extreme weather gear at home. I soon regretted it! The grill at lunch provided a little relief, but not much. By mid afternoon, despite frozen hands, things were looking up, a small hatch and the fish seemed eager I decided to forego an early morning start the next day and was rewarded by a better hatch the next afternoon. We took a little time off to visit old friends and see new sights. Found a few Bob White wannabes at the new Sage Lodge. It’s a beautifully done place, just a little over-the-top for my taste, and more like a Disneyworld experience. On the return trip had to stop and take in a full breath of the Tetons. We had breakfast with Pastor Ben and am happy to report he’s doing well!
My wife always wants to see moose. This trip she had to provide her own And a closing thought- Arctic Gear, don’t leave home without it!! !
