kind of self-explanatory, right? We seem to have some impressive thread-wrappers that lurk around this board. let's try to keep your "first booger" posts at a minimum.

:cool Likewise - I will fish with you (and your dad) anywhere you'll have me!

Tying flies 3000 miles from the fish - I might as well bring some lawn darts - but after 75 of them I actually tied 2 or 3 good ones. Thankfully we have a seasoned vagabond guide - some guy named Willi :cheer

What's the fly and or pattern?

It's a pattern called the wood duck heron, created a while back for targeting sea run brown trout in the estuary systems of southern Maine and coastal New Hampshire. Gets used throughout the northeast for everything from pin smelts to hexagenia emergers. I used to grease them up with floatant and skate them dry. Tie on a premium wood duck lemon flank feather by its tip halfway down the hook shank. Palmer wrap the feather up to the eye, stroking the fibers back so they don't splay out everywhere. Tie a webby medium dun hen saddle feather by its tip and wrap as a collar. Finish off the head and you're done. Really simple pattern, tied all of those in the photo in one day.
