kind of self-explanatory, right? We seem to have some impressive thread-wrappers that lurk around this board. let's try to keep your "first booger" posts at a minimum.

Similar to a Lady McConnell. Change in tying sequence from the vid I saw, since, just like with Humpies, I can never get the right distance when folding the deer hair tips over.

shellback/feelers – deer hair bleached

Might lose it to a tree or fish, but you won't have to tie on a new one in the dark because it stopped floating.

A number of folks deleted posts in the thread, for whatever reason, and it busted the links I set up in the index. Not worth the time to fix it (re-sequencing the hundreds of pre-index links every time it happened) since I don't think many used it. I'll take it out of my sig line

Skitter

Image

Found this on a carp site, although supposedly a Traveling Sedge pattern from the 70's. Another take on the cross-wrapped deer hair body style, similar to a number of Michigan patterns (see Johnson Mimic May), this one has the front end of the Harrop Hair Wing Dun

hook – Mustad 94840 #8
thread – UTC 140 black
tail/body – deer hair
rib - tying thread
hackle – grizzly
wing - deer hair

mash barb, start thread at 3/4 mark; wrap to bend and back

Image

clean, stack, measure (tips a gap width past bend) a clump of deer hair; tie in with 2 soft loops, slowly tighten, allowing the deer hair to encircle the shank

Image

Image

Image

gather fibers to the rear, spiral wrap down the body to point above barb (with flossy thread like UTC, it's a good idea to spin the bobbin before ribbing the body); cross-wrap forward, returning to tie-in

Image

Image

Image

tie in hackle; wrap, tie off/trim

Image

Image

trim out hackle on top for the wing

Image

Image

clean, stack, measure (tips to bend) another clump of deer

Image

trim to length; tie in with 2 soft loops, pull tight without releasing hair, flaring butts on top, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

Image

Image

trim out hackle underneath (optional)
