Married wing Salmon/Steelhead Swap

kind of self-explanatory, right? We seem to have some impressive thread-wrappers that lurk around this board. let's try to keep your "first booger" posts at a minimum.

I have flies from rampant and my flies are done. I'm still hopeful that a few of you are tying flies. Brent made hooks, heero is 43/64ths one day starting over the next. Shawn got hit with a bug infestation. What about the rest of you?

All of my shit was moved to the basement with the renovations...I expect to have them back up shortly...but yep...
I'm with the boy Brent (a-hole brigade)...we each have half a fly, so between us we have one.

After 12 months I would be happy if you posted me half a dozen of your hooks. This looks good, was it on your own hook?

We'll done! To tell you the truth I'm amazed that anyone actually tied a fly. I have been digging up flies to send to rampant tied by drake members in the past. He was still going to get 2 or 3 from me but he would have a little variety. A green highlander from aggers and other duplicate or extra flies. Now there is at least one more.

Does anyone else plan on tying anything?

Yup, my hook. about 3/0. pretty short hook, as told to me by Schmitch et al, but.....fuck it.

The hooks are harder to make than the flies. there is so much handling during the heat treat process. It's such a PITA that I have about 50 ready to heat treat that I don't want to do. sanding every single hook with 400 grit BLOWS. especially after hardening, when a bit of force snaps them like a tooth pick.
part of it is heat treating with oil.....hard to get off. water might be better.

My plan is to slowly pick away at this. I've got #2 in the vice. Not sure how many people are "in" but I'm going to try and get a few of these done. I may ship them 3 at a time! haha!
