The gimongus super huge steelhead fly thread.

kind of self-explanatory, right? We seem to have some impressive thread-wrappers that lurk around this board. let's try to keep your "first booger" posts at a minimum.

Good looking truders hero :cool

There is nothing wrong with tying on a renzetti. I tied on one exclusively for 17ish years. I have never had one problem with it. The only reason I bought an HMH this spring was because I never used the rotary function when tying salmon flies... And I got a hell of a good deal on it :coffee

Just a wiggly steelhead bug. I mostly fish that in orange/olive or blue/black.

The hook is a Matzuo sometingorother. I saw one on a Glista fly, and hunted them down on the interwebs. At first I was concerned about the sharp bends being weak, but they've only broken on snags, never on a fish, including some big ass chums in AK. They have a slight offset, hold a point and are easy to sharpen, and are cheap. And sexy.

This is a knock off of what GS tied for all of the Mag 7, I didn't have the hook quality he used but I think it's in the spirit...

dude that's a beaut. i could have used that yesterday on our low clear water too. i do like your hook choice though. i find i need a little heavier than typical hook to balance flies with long hackle. that should swim true.
