Cold weather and Keg stands

Post by -G- » Mon Mar 13, 2017 5:23 pm

I'm putting this in the bitching thread because as usual when you plan a trip 3 months in advance you're bound to have shitty river conditions.

I'm in the middle of a kinda busy time in my schooling and this was really the only weekend I was able to get out to have a streamer fishing bachelor party weekend with the guys so this one was set in stone.

Of course the weekend before and the weekend after are mid 50's.

Image

I'm really not too wild of a person, and really just wanted all my best friends up north with some beer and to have a standard fishing weekend together.

Then I got a txt from Nolan a few days before we left.

"I just bought three kegs"

So the back of the boat looked like this our first morning on the river.

Image

It was cold, and every 4 casts you'd have to de-ice your rod. Then the time you spent de-icing your rod would turn your streamer into an ice cube if you forgot to leave it in the water.

So J, Dan, Nolan and I brought that keg to the bank and enjoyed the scenery.

Nolan had a few beers.

When we had enough liquid confidence to start up again we realized it was still really cold and the fishing was still really slow.

But pretty, at least.

Image

Nolan had a few more beers, and decided we needed to turn this into a drinking trip.

"When's the last time you guys did a keg stand?"

"I've never done one"

"Highschool, maybe?"

"Well everyone needs to go. Ill go first" Nolan said

Image

Pretty sure he drank a fourth of the keg.

Then I went.

J went

Image

And Dan went

Image

Then we of course all had to piss, but a game of baseball broke out instead of going back to fishing.

The sun had been out for a while, so we figured giving fishing another shot wasn't a bad idea.

And it turned out to be a good idea.

So Nolan had another beer.

We rowed out. And drove to our campsite.

Before crawling up in our sleeping bags and trying to stay warm in the 12 degree weather we put some of these over the fire.

Image

We woke up to single digits and commented how good that'll be for the trout fishing.

So we did as you're suppose to do when coming up with a plan and made some tailgate french press.

Image

Nolan poured himself a beer to go with his french press.

We then hit some smaller water.

Image

It was still cold

Image

It was my turn on the rod and nolan set me up for a good shot into some shallow timber. Second strip I saw a slow-motion buttery swipe.

Image

So Nolan had an idea to celebrate.

Steamin, Fukn travis, and bear were driving up, so we rowed out to meet them at our favorite up north bar.

Image

Image

We then woke up up at one of my favorite places to spend a weekend up north.

Image

Steamin does not fuk around when it comes to cabin dinners.

Image
Image

Travis' spicy sausage biscuits and gravy breakfast are also second to none.

It was still really cold. But we figured do a short float.

To my surprise, Nolan found a baby picture of me and hand made ginger-baby shirts for everyone to wear on the river.

Shit got weird.

We made a scene.

Did more keg stands.

Image

We met some guys floating down and Nolan made them do keg stands.

The team

In the end, we had nothing to bitch about. Best crew a guy could ask for and we made the very best out of the weekend.

Now I know good and well that all a weekend of bad weather needs-

Is a couple keg stands.
Maybe we haven't drank enough Busch- Nolan

Surely nothing to bitch about there.

Never understood why you would have to be upside down to chug off the spigot?

Drunk fishing is kinda fun though and thems some nice fish too.

At least no one drowned.

That's a really good question.. I was wondering the same thing all weekend. More fun than drinking it upright?

haha Nolan would be happy to make more just email him at nolanflynn3@gmail.com . Even the bright pink ultra deep V neck if that's your style. Steamins sticky idea is gold though..but you might have to nudge him to order some.
Maybe we haven't drank enough Busch- Nolan

The first keg stand I ever saw was before an exes sorority formal.

Packed house party, as I walk out past the keg I see 2 guys hoist an incredibly attractive young lass, in an already too short dress up for a keg stand. This put her cooter at eye level in a small dress.
She didn't have any panties on.. This was my first real "college" experience, and no i don't have pictures.

That's my kinda fishing trip. you can't appreciate that kind of enjoyment in the summer until you've in the cold.
