Beck says Newt's fans are racist-
Speaking on Friday to Fox News’ Judge Napolitano, Beck had some harsh words for the tea partiers who are now apparently rallying to the former House Speaker’s side in the wake of Herman Cain’s implosion.

“I issue a challenge to the tea party members,” Beck said. “You look at his record, you read his words… see what he believes.” If they do, he claimed, they would see “this man is a progressive, he knows he is a progressive.” His conclusion seemed to startle even Napolitano:

“So if you’ve got a big government progressive or a big government progressive in Obama, one in Newt Gingrich, one in Obama, ask yourself this Tea Party: Is it about Obama’s race? Because that’s what it appears to be to me. If you’re against him but you’re for this guy, it must be about race. It’s the policies that matter.”
And Michael Savage is offering Newt $1 mil to drop out-
In a statement on his website, Savage says he’ll make the offer official on his show, and lays out (in jarring ALL CAPITAL LETTERS) his reasons that Gingrich should drop out. He runs through the usual gamut of reasons offered for Newt being an electoral disaster, including his rather unpleasant divorces, his buck-raking from Freddie and Fannie, and his stance in favor of a policy the right characterizes as “amnesty.”

However, it’s when Savage comes to the issue of the Presidential Debates that he gets really personal:

IN A PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE AGAINST OBAMA, REGARDLESS OF HOW WELL HE DOES, ON TELEVISION, HE WILL COME OFF BADLY COMPARED TO OBAMA AND LOOK LIKE NOTHING MORE THAN WHAT HE IS: A FAT, OLD, WHITE MAN.

Savage concludes,

IF NEWT GINGRICH REALLY LOVES THIS COUNTRY AS MUCH AS HE SAYS HE DOES, IF HE REALLY WANTS WHAT IS BEST FOR AMERICA, HE WILL SET HIS EGO ASIDE, CALL ME, AND ACCEPT MY OFFER. HIS CONTINUED CANDIDACY SPELLS NOTHING BUT RUIN FOR CONSERVATIVES, REPUBLICANS, AND ALL TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS. ONE MILLION DOLLARS IN EXCHANGE FOR PRESERVING THE NATION, NEWT. I SAY TAKE THE MONEY… AND DON’T RUN.
Heh.

Gotta love Dr. Savage.

While I don't always agree with what he has to say, the guy damn sure puts his money where his mouth is.

Dead on take from Ross Douthat here-
Douthat frames the Gingrich and Paul contest in Iowa. He calls Paul "the kind of conservative that Tea Partiers want to believe themselves to be" and Gingrich "the kind of conservative that liberals believe most Tea Partiers to be." His bottom line:
Most important, they represent two very different endpoints for the Tea Party movement. Paul, for all his crankishness, is the kind of conservative that Tea Partiers want to believe themselves to be: Deeply principled, impressively consistent, a foe of big government in nearly all its forms (the Department of Defense very much included), a man of ideas rather than of party.

Gingrich, on the other hand, is the kind of conservative that liberals believe most Tea Partiers to be – not a genuine “don’t tread on me” libertarian, but a partisan Republican whose unstinting support for George W. Bush’s deficit spending morphed into hand-wringing horror of “socialism” once a Democrat captured the Oval Office.

...

If the town hall crashers and Washington Mall marchers of 2009 settle on a Medicare Part D-supporting, Freddie Mac-advising, Nancy Pelosi-snuggling Washington insider as their not-Romney standard bearer in 2012, then every liberal who ever sneered at the Tea Party will get to say “I told you so.”

Civil war is putting it lightly.

Overdue update:
The Senate Minority Leader is on defense on multiple fronts as he seeks re-election in 2014: a well-funded primary challenger in Matt Bevin, a well-connected Democratic opponent in Alison Lundergan Grimes, dismal poll numbers, a fractured caucus seeking deals with the White House and a campaign manager who embarassingly admitted he's holding his nose for a possible presidential run from the state's junior senator, Rand Paul.

On Friday, a leading tea party-aligned group previously associated with Jim DeMint announced they were planning a "statewide media campaign in Kentucky" to make McConnell "feel the heat" and support a conservative effort to defund Obamacare. http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/e ... ?ref=fpblg

In other news, North Carolina held a special legislative session so the Tea Party could mop up all the unintended consequences of all the bullshit they were too stupid to comprehend but passed anyway because it was part of their legislative agenda. And then they passed a law that made it impossible for folks born on a farm to a midwife to have the right to vote, because, you know, voting fraud is soooo rampant and undetected, yet the presence of a picture ID will fix it (even though every freaking illegal has a drivers license and there has been exactly two cases of casting a ballot in someone else's name in the last ten years...).

Yay Tea Fuckers. Thank fucking God the people of North Carolina finally elected a group of people dedicated to serving the population instead of big gov't or big Corps interests. Jesus Christ, when will these idiots finally get their Darwin Awards?

What's the problem?
We’re requiring the same identification that you need to get almost any government services, including food stamps, including a tattoo in North Carolina, including Sudafed in North Carolina,” Gov. McCrory told Here & Now. “And we’re offering free government-issued IDs to anyone who doesn’t have one, at our local DMVs.”
What's the chance of a NC dem not having a suitable ID? They'll be limited to only one vote so they'll have more time to look for work. Win, win.

Oh nothing, nothing at all. Legislative session so the folks running our government can fix shit they broke that they didn't realize they were breaking (even though they were told), abortion legislation slipped into a motorcycle law, ending voting registration drives and a high school civics program...

These fuckers are sleazier than the usual bunch but have the support of every parrot citizen who mimics whatever they are told to by rush radio and fox news. Naw, everything's great, by golly, with the tea party in office things are just getting more efficient by the day, because you know, they've spent so much time actually worrying about jobs and governing and oh wait...nevermind. Those things aren't important so long as we get our face on TV saying how we are going abolish Obamacare.
