Refuting Obama’s remark that corporations are still given tax breaks for moving their companies overseas, - “I’ve been in business for 25 years. I have no idea what you’re talking about. Maybe I need to get a new accountant, but the idea you get a break for shipping jobs overseas, is simply not the case.” Companies that close their US factories and move the operation out of the US can deduct their moving expenses, and if the owner of Bain really is unaware of this, he's too stupid to be prez.
Oh, I get it now, just common business deductions and Zero special deductions for moving businesses overseas. Thats lame.
The New York Times has called bullshit on Romney’s claims of creating 12 million jobs by revisiting reports in which forecasters explain the economy will create those jobs on its own no matter who wins.
Yeah...the new york times. Obama should have called him on it if he thought it had any merit.
Willard more than once referred to how Obama wants to make $716 billion in cuts to Medicare. Would you say it's a lie of omission not to add that your own running mate advocates the same thing?
Maybe Obama should have call him on it. Romney's the head of the ticket BTW.
I'll admit, Obama didn't do well last night.

Finding out Obama's 90 billion "wasted" on green energy was 50 years worth of oil company tax breaks was an eye opener.

FactCheck says Romney lied about that too

"...Romney made three false claims in this single statement:

Romney: And in one year, you provided $90 billion in breaks to the green energy world. Now, I like green energy as well, but that’s about 50 years’ worth of what oil and gas receives. And you say Exxon and Mobil. Actually, this $2.8 billion goes largely to small companies, to drilling operators and so forth.

First, the $90 billion was not given out “in one year.” The administration document cited by the Romney campaign said it was over two years: “$7 billion through the end of the second quarter of 2009 to $86 billion through the end of the second quarter of 2010.”

Second, he compares the “breaks to the green energy world” ($90 billion) with “what oil and gas receives” (which he put at $2.8 billion). This is problematic on a couple of levels.

Let’s set aside the fact that the “breaks” are not comparable — the clean-energy “breaks” included money for infrastructure projects, such as rail and the electrical grid — and look at his math. Fifty years of $2.8 billion would be $140 billion, not $90 billion (and that’s unadjusted for inflation). It would be more like 32 years. So, he’s wrong by his own accounting.

But also the $2.8 billion is a low estimate for how much the oil and gas industry receives in tax breaks.

The Obama administration in its proposed budget for fiscal year 2013 estimates that eliminating tax preferences for fossil fuels would raise $38.6 billion over 10 years, or about $3.9 billion a year, according to a Congressional Research Service analysis of the administration’s tax proposals for the industry. The industry itself says that the administration’s proposals would cost it $85 billion over 10 years, or $8.5 billion a year.

Clearly, the $90 billion would cover far less than 50 years’ worth of tax breaks by anyone’s account, including Romney’s.

In summary, Romney said a lot about the $90 billion in stimulus spending on clean energy — and very little of it was accurate.

In a nut shell, it was difficult to watch. Romney landed blow after blow, and Obama never once raised his arms to protect himself. He stammered and stuttered through the same tired, scripted discourse that we're all familiar with. Furthermore, he got lost in his own words at times when forced to speak off-the-cuff. What's even more concerning is that if indeed Romney was lying, Obama was neither knowledgeable enough nor bright enough to call bullshit right there and then. It was about as lop-sided as any one debate could have been.

Yes, and in 2010 Obama pushed for Sen.Whitehouse's bill to end the moving expense deduction for factories and jobs sent out of the country. 40 out of 41 Republicans in the Senate voted against it - one didn't vote. If a company decides to scrap equipment they're shipping out of the US it's also legal to write down the depreciated value and take that off against their taxes as well. (wish he'd made those points last night)
Jon, if that was in 2010, why are you pointing out the bad Repubs?
In 2010 the Dems controlled both houses and had no filibuster against that bill.
So, whats your point? Maybe you should look to Dingy harry and stiff face grandma pelosi.

Do you think this is what bama will be sporting for the next debate........

........
Without 60 votes, the mere threat of a filibuster is enough to kill anything in the Senate. A couple of Dems plus Droopy "Independent In Name Only" Lieberman also voted against this bill.

As for singling out the united R opposition to a bill that would stop outsourcing companies from using the tax code to benefit their bottom line, it's just a very clear example of McConnell's credo - "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." If Obama is for it, they're against it, no matter what.

No company would have been affected by this bill except those who close their US facilities and move to another country. Move across the state to a bigger plant, you keep the deduction. Or to a state with a better business climate, no problem. Send US jobs to Mexico or China, you shouldn't expect the taxpayers to subsidize your cost of moving and any scrapped equipment. What kind of American can object to that?

Next 2 debates will be interesting. We'll see if Obama has any substance or is built solely out of left-wing hype.

I suppose that is the only remaining question concerning the two.

We've long since determined Mitt has no substance...
