I lived and worked in northern Italy for year. Bozen to be exact. At first it was like paradise; how couldn't you love the tyrolian dolomiti, right? But, it didn't take long for the creeping effects of control freak socialism to start choking the fun and vibrancy out of it. Ironically I was there to help integrate shit to new of new EU regulation with the existing Italian rules and regulations on land-use planning and development in the region. It's funny how little that irony sunk in at the time. But I was young and dumb; hadn't seen my third decade by then. Nevertheless, By the time my green card ran out, I was ready to get back to gods country. Even Missoula, that hippie shithole, seemed like freedom in comparison.
