6.9 trillion Surges into the stock market. A lot of that money was sitting on the sidelines because of tepid economic growth and a shitty business environment.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/18/stock-m ... llion.html

GDP has increased from 1.6% in 2016 to three straight quarters of 3% growth in 2017 depending on who you ask. Q4 just came out low at 2.6 but will likely be adjusted upward.

Although my Google skills are lacking, so I can’t provide an exact citation, I’ve heard repeatedly on CNBC and fbn that that type of GDP growth improvement over three quarters equates to a trillion dollars worth of Main Street economic activity - driven by strong capital investment and consumer spending numbers.

And all this has occurred despite three fed funds rate hikes in 2017. That makes the cost of money more expensive and is designed to slow the economy down to avoid inflation. there werent three rate hikes in the entire Obama presidency. Shit, I remember even a whisper of a rate hike during the Obama presidency and the stock market would drop 200 points that same day and stop it in its tracks.

Next year? Fuggedaboutit. Tax reform will blow the doors off 2017.

50% of Americans have zero money in the stock market. Also it's paper money and as usual will burn up or blow away.

Make rich white guys richer would have been more accurate.

I'll probably get a stiff neck sitting here with my mouth open waiting on some of dat trickle down.

It’s very, very good news for anyone with a 401k, IRA or retirement savings, which includes lots and lots of folks who aren’t white.

Here’s some good news on jobs for those of you not sitting around waiting for someone to piss in your mouth.

Trump’s first-year jobs numbers were very, very good

Black unemployment hits all-time low

On the EPA front…
The EPA made a surprise move that could protect the world's largest salmon fishery

Wonder why this hasn’t been reported on here yet…

You forgot the other good EPA news. It's about Florida getting an exemption on offshore drilling.

Surprised you didn't mention it. :coffee

Oh and edited to say that 50% I mentioned means they don't have 401k's.

I will agree the economy is strong. Its strong worldwide. It was strong before Trumpsterfire deregulated everything he could. But at what cost? We know the environmental impacts are coming. How about financial? Are you not worried about another 2008ish recession now that all the banking regs are gone? Do you really think they learned their lesson and will behave now?

And by the way, the stock market is crashing today. Something about some pesky companies trying to keep people healthy. How lame!

As for the Pebble Mine deal, you gotta be kidding. This was dead in the water until the current admin opened the permit process back up. And they haven't done anything to stop this permit, they just said it was probably a bad idea to build a mine there. Of course they did that during a new public commenting process(like the people hadn't spoken on it already). Nothing to see here! Everybody can relax. Looks around..... OK, quick guys, nobody is looking. Build!

Good. Wrong. And no.

Riddle me this: why do you think after were buying up all those shitty mortgage loans and putting them on the federal reserves balance sheet, the Fed reserve is only now after Trump is president unloading that shitty balance sheet?

Second, why do you think that during the eight years of Obama’s presidency the federal funds overnight rate, the cost of acquiring money for the big banks and the starting point for issuing loans has been almost 0 for all eight years?

The answer is The Obama economy was an empty egg shell. Any threat of tightening the ship by unloading the Fed balance sheet or raising rates sent everything into a tailspin. So long as money was practically free, the economy plugged along despite Obama’s best effort’s to strangle it with overregulation.

And why do you think, that during the Trump presidency, they’re planning as many as 10 rate hikes? Because the economy is now finally strong, confidence is high, people are willing to take risks, they feel that the risks will be worth the reward. If that doesn’t make sense on some sort of guttural level to everyone here, there just isn’t much help for you and you’re destined for a socialism.

As far as being worried, if you know anything aboutFed funds rate hikes, you know that they are designed to avoid the economy burning out into recession by creating additional risk for stupid leveraged ventures.

The Fed certainly appears to be focused on making sure that doesn’t happen, even at the expense of unnecessarily slowing the economy.

Read this blog post, and I realize this guy is over the top but the points he makes short of the end of the world crap are valid. Curious to hear your thoughts

You see, in this country, there are these poor people. They don't have money for food let alone 401k's. You probably drive by some every day.

I didn't say they couldn't be involved. I said 50% of they are not so the stock market doesn't do shit for them. It really helps people like your great leader and all his buddies with the giant money you elected.

Upsetter- you have a childs view of economics. Which is good since so does your leader.
