If this looks familiar, it's because I take the same trip every year. It is in no means the same every time. This year, less water and bigger weather swings, including a tail wind. Not bad.

We arrived early and got to drink a few. There were some younger guys that were taking the same 3-day trip. They had great expectations. At the end of the trip, I think they fell short-at least on the fishing side. On the plus, everybody pictured was hungover at 5:45 AM the next day.

So, with the cooler packed, we headed out. (The water bottles serve as ice cubes in case you were wondering their purpose)

I'm a fan of the pint aluminum bottles.

The river was lower, but there was no wind on day one. Amazing.

Dos otros gueys (two other guys w/ us)

I've fished this spot for years, but with the drought, not much water. Made me really thankful that we didn't float that section.

I've floated this without dragging in the past.

Wrong flavor, but saw a bunch this year. Odd. Tilapia.

As I said, wasn't 100% on day one. Neither was my partner. Neither was the fishing. Alas, there was dinner to eat. (Those beans were made from a wife that cares...not mine, but man, those were good.)

Again, no wind. Amazing x2. Morning was great, but got to 98 in the afternoon. That is too hot for March.

A spring that is usually under water. This year, no need to filter. Taken from the source.

More signs of spring. (I think it means you are aging when you take pictures of trees, etc., but maybe that's a good thing.)

So, after more beer and grilled meat, we went to bed. At 12:30 a front blew through. Found out later it was 40 in the AM. Not horrible if you're in Montana, but with a stiff breeze and forced wading...not ideal. Nobody complained, we enjoyed the tail wind, and headed out.

There were a couple of bigger fish caught by the other guys, including one jumbo. But, they weren't mine and weren't smallies.

And, we're done
