It's been a busy month with two separate trips to Argentina. For a guy who walks 75 feet across the back yard to work, that's along commute... but, no complaints!

The first week, in early January, was a tough one. Although the weather was perfect and the fishing, off the charts... the chemistry of the group left me flat; way too much alpha-male bullshit. So... forget it, I'm not even going there. Catching fish is cool... but that's not all that makes a trip memorable. Usually, it's the people you share time with. I've written the first trip off.

The second week was with a group of old friends; most of the guys I've fished with, here and there, for 20(+) years. All great guys; genuine, competent, interesting, and the only sense of competition is with the younger anglers they once were. Real gentlemen all the way around. Needless to say, Lisa was thrilled to back me up... and that made the trip even sweeter.

As with most things in life, it has to be the going, not the getting there that's good. I love these trips because there's lots of time to relax. The flight's delayed three hours? Cool, I'll pick up another book, or begin that essay I've been meaning to write. The flight to BA has been cancelled? Well... shit-fire, let's find a rockin' Cuban restaurant in Miami and have dinner! It's all good when Lisa's around... time with your wife is a wonderful thing.

It was a long flight... but we arrived refreshed and ready to go. It's a bit of a drive from the international airport to the heart of BA, but I enjoy the memories that flash past the taxi on our way into town... it's been almost 30 years!

We arrive at our hotel... nice digs.

Afterwards, it's a short walk to our favorite cafe for big, thick-bottled beers and some lunch. Can you spot the Gringos?

My buddy, Kuppy and I, love the mixed grill... bring it! Veal kidney, small intestines, blood sausage, sweet breads (thyroid gland), tripe, sphincter, and any other organ you can think of... all washed down with incredible bottles of wine. Shit-dog-damned!

Comatose, we awake the next morning, and board the domestic flight to San Martin De Los Andes... about a two-hour flight. I'm out cold... so no worries. We arrive...
