Tampa-Clearwater Advice

Post by Woolybug25 » Wed Feb 11, 2015 5:14 pm

Yo dudes. As I look out my window at yet another snow storm, I realize that my impeding trip to the sunshine state is more needed than I knew. I'm going to be in the Tampa/Clearwater area between March 5th - 9th. I should have a day or two to fish and a rental car.

- Anybody want to fish? (I got gas/beer)
- Any decent wading areas?
- Any other random places I should check out?

Thanks in advance, homies. :cool

I may have a prior engagement, trying to nail down dates.

That being said if im around you can come down and fish the everglades/10k islands area or I can meet you in pine island and we can explore that area.

However, there are a lot of guys closer to that area that will probably extend offers that will be hard to refuse

I will be out of town the 7-9th

There are really good wade spots, depending on the tides. A boat helps, though.

Wrong coast, unless you're willing to hoof it a couple of hours.

Warm beer, cold food and redfish are always an option.

Eats: fancy - Salt Rock Grill can't be beat.
Casual- PJ's Oyster bar
The Columbia is a great old Cuban place that is hard to beat also, there is one in Tampa and one in St Pete.
Spring Training will be in full swing. The Yankees play in Tampa a short drive from St Pete.
The Tiki bar at the trade winds serrata is a great place to drink and catch a sunset.
The Florida Aquarium is great for kids, as well as Bush Gardens for Roller Coasters.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

I'll be there the 3rd-9th, but I'll have the munchkin in tow and I'm working. Would appreciate any suggestions from the locals as well though, especially as to where I might source a fine plate of ropa vieja.

I'm quite disappointed that we haven't heard from him. His insight on Maui was one of the finest pieces of knowledge ever dropped.
