You say it was a gator, but how do we really know it wasn't a flat tire?
Funny they tell that story in Homosassa also. Or did 15 years ago. Scratched the hell out of him it did.

Sorry I missed this. Great seeing you guys. Rains have started and we have hurricane season scheduled to start within two weeks. Our "spot" is going to be a bit harder to get to once the rains drop a few feet of water onto the trail.

Auggie proved this theory...twice

DEET claims to have caught gators in his backyard pond on a 12wt...
and then retrieved the popper by stepping on their snout
I have hooked and fought many on poppers, usually I fight them a bit then break them off, I have landed an itty bitty one or two. Had a client land one about 3 feet long one time. He was worried about getting his "$5 fly" back. I told him he was welcome to stick his hand in its mouth to retrieve the fly if he wanted, but my fingers were staying where they were. P.S. all of the above is hypothetical since gators are pretty highly regulated and protected.

I guess depends on teh level of your sobriety.

You can go from "no problem" to "what did I get myself into?!" really fast. I don't do it on purpose, but there are holes in my lake where the bass go crazy and the little gators periodically pop up.
