kind of self-explanatory, right? We seem to have some impressive thread-wrappers that lurk around this board. let's try to keep your "first booger" posts at a minimum.

A basic, simple one I found here. Tied the head/collar a bit fuller than the original for a bit more floatation.

Joergensen’s Saltwater Caddis (variation)

Found this one on the Globalflyfisher site. Tied here in a freshwater version since I can’t find where I stashed my saltwater hooks; added a wire counterrib to protect that naked ostrich herl.

hook - WFC Model 6 #6
thread - Veevus 6/0 black
rib - ostrich herl rat brown
counterrib - x-small wire silver
body - Ice Dub hare’s ear
collar/head - deer hair dyed olive

Mash barb, start thread; tie in wire & herl, wrap to bend

Tied this a bit fuller than the original because, again, I’m looking to fish this more as a dry. Swapped out deer belly hair for pronghorn which, even though a bit unruly, spins like a dream and is substantial down to the tip.

thread - Veevus 6/0 black
rib - small wire silver
Tag - dubbing flame
body - dubbing black
body hackle - furnace

Was just playing around with a compound dubbing loop (hence the name) of deer hair and Ice Dub; the Ice Dub goes in a split thread, then a loop is made to capture the deer hair - didn’t really expect much so no pics. Although a bit ratty looking, it turned out okay so I decided to slap on a shoulder and head; next one will be a bit more presentable.

hook - WFC Model 6 #6
thread - Veevus 6/0 black
body - Ice Dub pearl/deer hair (loop dubbed)
shoulder - pheasant rump
collar/head - deer hair

I had thought about tying a Delaware Adams on a 4/0 Mustad 3407 (biggest hook I own) after a few days fishing for jacks at Sebastian Inlet one fall, just for kicks, but never did; doubtful that opportunity will ever present itself again.

Got inspiration from Rob Denson’s Sooty Muddler, and the body color from a nice thread (go to post #17) on dyeing olive on the U.K. forum. It should make a passable Skwala, even though the colors don’t really match the natural; spring trout aren’t all that picky.

About the only thing it has in common with the original is the caribou wing; I wasn’t entirely successful maintaining the natural curve of the hair in the wing.

thread - Veevus 6/0 black
tail - deer hair
rib - medium tinsel opal
body - Ice Dub hare’s ear
