ELECTRIC BOOGOOOLOO(unltd benching thread)

Post by blue ridge angler » Fri Jan 08, 2010 9:06 am

For those not familiar with the act, "benching" or, the act of sitting next to train lines with a camera for the purpose of documenting the graffitti art adorning the train cars was started in the bronx in the mid to late 60's..by 1990 the subways in new york had implemented a zero tolerance policy that all but completely eradicated the graffitti on the subways...benching nearly died out..
once the subways were no longer an available canvas for the artist to send there work out on, it occurred to some, that the nations freight lines were an untapped resource on which an individual could send one's work to points across the entire nation instead of just your own city...
flip to the present. if you stop to watch any freight train rolling by at any time you are sure to see numerous pieces of graffitti.....I have been benching freight graffiti for 10 or so years now and in the interest of having something to look at, and help pass these frozen winter months I thought I would share some of the better pieces I have caught.if there happen to be any other benchers on here feel free to post up any you might have..railfan pics welcome as well...
I will continue to add more as the weeks wear on...enjoy

And here I am thinking that the only people hanging out down by the tracks checking out the graffitti were tweakers and prostitutes. Which one are you again?

I thought when I read the title it was going to be some
muscle head cunt bragging about how much he "benches"
little did I know it would somehow even be stupider.

Were there really benches to sit on to watch the trains? That is awfully considerate.
