Today we left. Goodbyes were said and gratitude given before we set out on our long journey home.

I was quiet for quite awhile. We both were.

I forget sometimes that this is her home. Her mother, father, brother, sisters, nephews, nieces and friends are all here. And as much as I will miss waking up to a river full of wild trout. She will miss so much more. Her parents getting old. Her nephews and nieces growing up.

The hours ticked away in silence. Melancholy thick in the air.

She finally spoke first "I just wish we never had to leave."

"I know, I know." I sighed "Me neither."
I just went back & relived this whole epic thread.
It is spectacular, & I was really enjoying it.
Then, I lost my shit when I read the part that I quoted; tears streaming down my face kinda shit-losing.
My heart goes out to y'all right now, my friend,
Hang in there!

Sad news Peetso.

Hang on to those memories and pass them on. Be good to Mrs. Peetso she will lean on you like never before.

Sip shall be poured.

Dang man, I just replied to your PM before I saw this. I'll be pouring one out on the side of the creek shortly.

My condolences to you, your lady & the rest of the family.
I'll be spending the next 4 days camped beside the lower Oldman River; I shall be sure to pour a sip into some water that comes from the country that your father-in-law loves so much.

Peetso, a prayer for your family...and my heart felt condolences...

Eternal God,
you have shared with us the life of Blaine’s father in law.
Before he was ours, he is yours.
For all that he has given us to make us what we are,
for that of him which lives and grows in each of us,
and for his life that in your love will never end,
we give you thanks.
Through your grace that can do far more than we can think or imagine,
Fulfill in him your purpose that reaches beyond time and death.
Lead this kind hearted gentleman from strength to strength,
As now we offer him back into your arms,
comfort us in our loneliness,
strengthen us in our weakness,
and give us courage to face the future unafraid.
Draw those of us who remain in this life closer to one another,
make us faithful to serve and fish with one another,
Uphold us now as we entrust him to your boundless love, bountiful fishing streams and eternal care.
Assure us that not even death can separate us from your infinite mercy, and our love for fishing.
Deal graciously with his family, who mourn,
that they may truly know your sure consolation. Amen

Grace and peace

Ben

Man that sucks. So Sorry Peetso. Having just gone thru this last year, the boys are right, be strong for your wife and her mother. They will need a man like you around to listen and share the stories and the sorrow.

Sip being poured.
