Hey there.

Sorry to have been absent as of late... I've been busy teaching Astrotard how to wax his mustache.

I had the opportunity to take a short trip out to Utah and fish with an old friend... and meet a new one.

I'd heard about the Green River and Flaming Gorge for over three decades... since the days that Del Canty was floating around in his belly-boat... but never had the chance to fish it. As a bonus, our host decided to take us to a little, out-of-the-way spring creek.

It was a good trip!

It was small water, but John and I get a bit of time on the small stuff, so we felt right at home.

Of course, we'd hoped for a BWO hatch, but it wasn't to be... we'd fish nymphs.

As the sun climbed higher, some bugs began to hatch. The fish were keyed to emergers, however... and our new best friend had just the right fly.

We all caught small fish; the size you'd expect from a stream this size. John and our new buddy caught a couple of dandies, however... I missed one.

The next day we'd float the Green.

Early morning in a shaded canyon... we'd start with a nymph rig and hope for a hatch.

Fish were caught, but the guides got tired of staring at bobber and suggested we try streamers. I love hucking big flies. Take your pick!

Bugs started to hatch, and although there wasn't a blanket of BWO's... there were enough to concentrate on rising fish.

That was a great report Bob. I like that place too - and it took me forever to travel a much shorter distance to go fish there. :cool
