Fine job Gerrit. A fine skunking indeed.

I envy folks that have four seasons. However, I'm told I wouldn't last very long living through a real winter. I suspect our August can't be that much more bearable.

Looks like you survived with a couple stories to tell. Great trip.
True, but at least we have fish that can be caught in August.

And if you crank up the boat it's like air conditioning, right?

And at least there's not as many gnats. I hate gnats.

The only thing I know about it is that my dad bought it in the late 60’s/ early 70’s in Holland, MI. I need to put it on the stone for some TLC

Got started on some new bote furniture today.

Because you can’t wait for the mayflies to come out with your feets kicked up without a proper backrest.

First made some lap joints. This task became significantly easier upon acquiring a table saw.

Counter sunk some rope-holes

Excited to see what they look like roped, and glossed up.

Back seat, and cooler seat getting closer..

Sanding, then waterproofing all of the rope holes has to be the most tedious task of bote-making one can partake in. Kept true with the glued 1.5 inch cedar strips, planed, with mahogany seats.

I’ve a question. How do you prevent your large drill bits from chipping the back end of your hole? I tried clamping them to a scrap piece this time, and starting with a small bit and working my way up but it still happened. Less than my rowers seat, but still noticeable.

Of note: I’ve no drill press. Just a poverty screw driver.

Drill only halfway through from each side.
