hook – Dai Riki 899 #8
thread - UTC 140 tan
tail - Krystal Flash rootbeer
body - Ice Dub golden brown
hackle - hen pheasant
head - 2mm foam tan
wing - deer hair

Mash barb/start thread; tie in KF, fold, wrap to point above point

Originated by B.C. Guide Fred Watts; here’s a nice SBS with the fly’s history. I tied mine with more flare in the hair than the original; elk would probably flatten it out a bit.

Clean, stack, measure (1/2 shank length) a clump of deer hair; trim to length, tie in with 2 soft loops, pull it tight, let it spin, wrap to bend
