Winter steelhead fly swap

Yeah it's May and I'm already thinking about steelhead.

One might ask-

A winter steelhead sunk fly swap...

In the summer?

Well, if you all want your flies by winter I figured an early start with a due date before the season is in full swing is whats in order because we know good and well one guy is going to hold this up at the end regardless.

This swap is for medium-large sized swing flies meant for winter costal, GL, etc steelhead. Bring on your favorite leech, intruder, sculpin etc pattern. All colors from black to pink to red allowed. Flies can be extra classy, or look like feenstras as long as they're something you've caught fish with. (Be aware there's a fine line between feenstra ties and fucking atrocities so don't flirt with it). There's plenty of time.. so take your time with each fly.

Tube, Single hook or shank flies accepted. If you're sending shank/trailer hook flies you don't have to include hooks because I'm sure everyone has their own hook preference anyways and will promptly throw yours in the trash on superstition alone.

**Since I haven't been around forever I'm tying two flies for everyone- a low and high water fly.** Do it as well if you'd like.

7 Tiers. Quality over quantity. Will make room if someone really wants to join. Due date is October 10th (flies to me, not a post saying 'will be in mail this week' by October 10) Include 7 stickies with your flies. PM me for my addy when you're ready to send. Make sure to pay for a return label while shipping. I'll label your flies for you.

Haha, I was scrolling through the interweb the other day and saw what could be compared to shag- crapet lashed on a hook with a shitty ice dub head... and at the very end it had the hastag #feenstra. Now i'm not saying you couldn't catch a fish with it but jesus you can't just put that on a shit fly like you actually meant to tie it that way.

I thought it meant no balsa.

I googled feenstra, looks like another "innovator" who just straps half a pack of flashabou to a hook.

I like his simple "guide" tying style - fast, effective, and easy to use. But I also know that a Feenstra fly does not look like shit. He puts a good amount of thought into his reductionist style of tying. I dig it (and landed a fuckton [relative to a normal early spring] of rustheads on my version of his shrew sculpin, dialed to my local)

Every time I see him at the launch or on the river he'll always take the time to talk. Really classy and just a flat out kind soft spoken dude. Even the guides that guide for him speak crazy highly of him. With all the fuck-boy bait guys wanting 30 fish days by chumming he's really been a strong voice for our rivers. His photography is incredible too for those of you that haven't seen his site.

Ps- fuckn solid line up so far. Pumped for this.
