A Confession

This evening during dinner, my wife said, "Once you retire (again) and my mother dies, I think we should move."

"Really? And what makes you think your mother is ever going to die?"

"Well, she's got to go eventually."

"Knowing her better than I'd like to, I'm not so sure about that, but let's say she does die before us. Where would you like to settle"

"Montana."

.....

"Ohh kayyy... Any place particular in Montana?"

"Missoula. Missoula Montana. I think that's the place for us."

.....

"Ohh kayyy... Have you ever been there?"

"No."

"Well that makes two of us. So why Missoula Montana?"

"Well, there's a university there. And a hospital. And it's far away from both of our families, and so it seems like an OK place to retire."

.....

I've no idea what to make of this, but I suspect a trip to Missoula Montana is on the horizon.

I invited Cornholio to join me up at the Old Man's place in Mendocino this past weekend.

I promised him two days of hunting, fishing, and relaxation.

When he arrived I said, "Remember all of that fun stuff I said we'd do? Well, we've got a broker sewer pipe between the house and the septic tank. I know it's well over a hundred degrees right not, but here's a shovel."

Hopefully he remembers none of this.

Manual labor and egg rolls for onion soup?

In every transaction, there is a winner and a loser. It seems that Cornholio got proper fucked on this one.

AJ’s dad has earned the right to just do whatever the fuck he wants at his ranch. The man pretty much single handedly built the cabin himself. One bad ass mofo for sure.

After doing some Manuel labor, AJ gave me a tour around the property.

His old man lived in this camper for over a year while working on the cabin:

And put a few of these massive tanks to store spring water for the property:

On with the tour:

Stopped by an old picnic area:

Lined up some cans on the picnic table and popped by shotgun cherry:

Toured the rest of the property.
Some amazing vistas:

And giant redwoods:

Looped our way back:

Did some work in the kitchen:

Fed some table scraps to the chickens:

Sampled some of AJ’s killer margaritas:

Then built a fire and hung out with the dogs:

Got hammered on margaritas and ended watching the fire slowly die down around midnight before turning in:

Another good ‘fishing’ trip in the books with the man. Maybe next time we’ll actually make a cast or two.
