Sawada's Sedge

Subbed biot for condor quill used in the original; notional tying sequence.
hook - Mustad 3906 #10
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tag - tinsel silver
body - biot dark grey
rib - x-small wire silver
hackle - grizzly hen
wing - turkey quill
mash barb, start thread, wrap to point

tie in tinsel;, wrap down bend to barb and back; tie off/trim

tie in moistened biot, notch side down

wrap thread to 1/2 point, tie in rib

wrap biot forward; tie off/trim

tie in hackle, palmer back to 1/2 point; capture tip with wire, continue rib thru hackle, helicopter end, cover with thread

stroke hackle fibers down with moistened fingers

prep paired turkey quill segments (not quite gap width)

measure (tips just past bend), fold, tie down with pinch wrap (waxing the thread helps alleviate thread torque, keeping the wing on top, although I did go thru 3 pairs to get this one right)

trim wing butts, whip finish, SHHAN
