I must say, Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore doing a "Ripple" cover in tribute last night was a musical high water mark for me. I was late to Dead fan-dom, but lyrics like that are what you point to when trying to explain to someone why you jumped head first into the deep end.
